CELTA (previously known as CTEFLA) is an initial training course in practical aspects of the Teaching of English as a Foreign Language (TEFL).

A CELTA or DELTA is internationally recognized as the first step for those intending to make the teaching of English as a Foriegn Language (EFL), or English as a Second language (ESL), or English to Speakers of Other languages (ESOL), a career, and is also often taken by teachers from other disciplines who wish to add to their skills or develop techniques to work with EFL / ESL / ESOL students in many schools.
