The greatest opportunity to practice your English outside the school environment is by living with a friendly New Zealand family as mentioned in our home-stay information. Farm-stay is similar. You experience rural living and will meet new friends and learn something about New Zealand culture and farming in a safe, friendly, home.

As in a typical home-stay situation, you will have someone to talk to at the end of your studies and be able to use your listening skills and conversational skills in a real-life situation. In addition you will pick up farming terms and slang unique to rural farmers. It's fun!!

You will get your own private, comfotable room (furnished with a minimum of a single bed, dresser, and study desk) as well as meals. You can purchase your own car, or the farm-stay parent or school will arrange your transportation. In some cases there may be additional costs depending on how distant you are from the school.

Farm-stay families are specially screened for their cultural sensitivity toward foreign students. They will become your family while in New Zealand. This is truly a unique and challenging experience.

All families will be screened to meet the Ministry of Education's Code of Practice for the Pastoral Care of International Students.
