Information about Home-stay Accommodation
The greatest opportunity to practice your English language, outside the school environment, is by living with a friendly New Zealand host family. You will meet new friends and learn something about New Zealand Culture in a safe, friendly home.
You will have someone to talk to at the end of your studies and be able to use your listening skills and conversational skills in a real-life situation. It is also nice to have someone who can guide you with your English language or other homework assignments.
What to Expect from your New Zealand Home-stay
You will get your own comfortable private room (furnished with a minimum of a single bed, dresser, and study desk).
In most cases meals are also provided. You may be able to purchase your own car, or use public transportation, which should be located close to your home-stay.
Home-stay families are specially screened for their cultural sensitivity toward foreign students. They will become your family while in New Zealand.
All families will be screened to meet the Ministry of Education's Code of Practice for the Pastoral Care of International Students. This involves a New Zealand Police background check to further ensure your safety.
